Just what the world needs...

... another blog from another person who thinks they're a writer, right?

Well, I'm not going to make any claims to being a great writer or claim that my pen is mightier than the sword.  I readily admit to being a poor speller (albeit one who actually knows how to use a spell checker).  My grammar isn't the best, but I try.  At least I know the difference between "there", "their", and "they're" and when to use the correct form.  As for proper punctuation and sentence form... I can get into a bit of trouble on this front, but I know that you're supposed to put two spaces after a period, so my paragraphs should be a little easier to read than those of some folks.

Who is this person?

OK... A little bit about me...  Single, white female born in 1968.  As I intend this blog to be semi-anonymous, I won't be giving out my full name, but all my friends call me "Kim".

I'm really a private person who's not prone to sharing things with even my closest friends.  Guess that comes from having moved around so much as a kid.  Constantly switching schools during one's formative years isn't really conducive to the creation of close personal relationships, so I tend towards being a misanthropic introvert.  Solitude is bliss, but I do have a small number of cherished friends I enjoy hanging out with whenever possible.

I have spent the better part of the last 20 years working for the U.S. Department of Defense in one form or another - military, contractor, and civilian.  I've been to Iraq twice and am about to head out on my first trip to Afghanistan in a couple months.  I'm looking forward to it, actually.  I'm not going to lie - I'm going because of the money.  It's long hours and hard work, but the pay is pretty good between the overtime and special pay.  Got to pad that retirement account somehow.

Oh, yeah... And I'm a Satanist.  I joined the Church of Satan in 2000 as a Registered Member.  I submitted my application (and was accepted) for Active Membership in 2003.  Since then, I have been elevated twice - to Witch in 2004 and to Priestess in 2007.

To those that know me, but didn't know about this aspect of my life, I'd be surprised to learn that you didn't at least suspect.  And I'll kindly ask that you dismiss those images that are no doubt popping into your heads about me being a baby-eating, cat-killing, Devil-worshipping maniac.  Satanism has nothing to do with any of those things.

What this blog is and isn't.

I created this blog as a place I could post random thoughts, rants, and insane ravings.  There are sure to be more than enough random YouTube videos and links to random websites to keep folks entertained.  There's no doubt that there will be many links to my friends' projects.  I'll probably post many photos (mostly of my cat) and some of my art.

I normally post most of these things to my Facebook profile, but I can't always be myself over there given that I have co-workers and family members as "Friends".  Here I can be as non-politically correct as I like and more open in regards to my true nature.

What I do not intend this blog to be is a platform for instructing folks about what Satanism is.  There will be Satanism-related postings, but if you want to know what Satanism is all about, please read The Satanic Bible and visit the Church of Satan website.  I'm not one of those "I'm-a-Satanist-hear-me-roar" types who think the philosophy needs tweaking, so there will be no essays on how Satanism needs to be "fixed".

About the blog's name.

I was studying Russian when I first got onto the Internet back in 1997.  When I started visiting my first chat room (a Wiccan one, by the way), I was having trouble coming up with a nickname to use.  So I thought, "Чёрт возми!" ("Goddamit it! or more literally, "The Devil take it!") and decided to settle on using "Чёрт" ("Chyort") for my Internet presence.  Several years later, I decided to set up a personal webpage.  Since a Satanist is her/his own God, I decided to pay homage to myself when obtaining the URL for the site and called it "Homage to Chyort".

For those of you familiar with the "Homage to Tchort" ritual in The Satanic Rituals, Magus LaVey's spelling is more phonetic in nature.  My spelling is a more literal transliteration - "ч" = "ch", "ё" = "yo", "р" = "r", "т" = "t".

I think that's about it.  Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy what you see here.

Kim
