Stair Dismount

Stair Dismount is a fun little application for the iPhone and iPad created by Secret Exit.  The premise of the game is that you have a virtual character, Mr. Dismount, who you can push off various high places - stairs, cliffs, ski lifts, airplanes.  As he falls and bounces off outcroppings, you rack up points by the number of fractured bones he receives and how many times he somersaults through the air.  Each bounce comes with a rather satisfying crunching sound.

I find the game to be very cathartic whenever I become frustrated with the herd of humanity and would like nothing more than to shove the people annoying me off a very high place.  With the game, I can do it safely and legally.  The game even allows you to choose a face to put onto Mr. Dismount, so if you have a photo of someone you would like to envision pushing down the stairs, you can attach it and get going.

There are two versions of the game available in the Apple iTunes Store.  The Lite version comes with 10 starter levels (a couple more may have been added since I first downloaded it) and, as an added bonus, a complementary monocle and mustache for Mr. Dismount.  The Universal version comes with the initial starter levels, but ALAS! no monocle and mustache.  What makes getting the Universal version worthwhile are the additional add-on packages that are available (at 99¢ per pack).  You can get more characters to push around and additional levels to have fun in.

Choosing a character.

There are two character packs that can be purchased - the Hero Bundle and the Equality Bundle - each with three additional characters with different body types.  The different body types make for different falling dynamics.

Mr. Dismount - a 1:30 type
Mr. Stalwart - a 12:00 type
Mr. Heft - a 6:00 type
Mr. Reach - a 3:00 type
Ms. Dismount - a 4:30 type
Ms. Bumblebee - a 6:00 type
Ms. Diva - a 9:00 type

Choosing a face.

You can load a face from your iPhone photos or connect to Facebook and snag a friend's profile picture from there.

Choosing a level.

In addition to the basic package, there is a Winter Sports package and a Falling package available for purchase.  (I can't remember if those are the official names of the packages.)

Ready!  Set!  PUSH!

When you get ready to push your character off his or her perch, you can adjust the location the push will come from to direct in which direction he or she will fall.

The meter shows how much force will be behind the push when you hit the "DISMOUNT" button.

Free falling.

Damage report.

Once your character hits the bottom, you can check to see how much damage was done to each body part.
